A Japanese waitress has been fired after she was found to have mixed her own blood into the cocktails of unknown customers.
The Mondaiji Con Cafe Daku in Sapporo, Hokkaido – whose name loosely translates to ‘Problem Child Concept Café’ – apologized for the staff member’s actions.
Earlier this month, the outlet took to Twitter to respond to customer concerns and announced the firing of the waitress, saying they fired her after discovering her horrific cocktail additions.
The cafe called the server’s actions and their gory concoctions “absolutely not acceptable,” but did not name anyone involved.
The owner of Mondaiji Con Cafe Daku also said that the outlet would temporarily close while they replace every drinking glass.

The café advertises itself as an establishment for ‘problem children’ and ‘cutest’ girls who enjoy the darkness.

Responding to the rather bloody controversy, the cafe’s owner said, “Please allow me to run the shop a little longer so that I can be happy alone.”
“We will hire a contractor to clean the store, change glasses and dispose of alcoholic beverages that may be contaminated. Again, I’m very sorry for causing you trouble this time,” read a tweet posted earlier this month.
Of the former employee, the owner said it was a form of “part-time terrorism.”
But following the news, a doctor has warned that “drinking other people’s blood is an extremely dangerous act.”
Dr. Zento Kitao warned Japan’s Flash news site that anyone who has visited the cafe should go to the doctor and get a blood test.
“Cases of people becoming infected by drinking someone else’s blood are rare,” he said, “but major diseases can be transmitted through blood, including HIV, hepatitis C, hepatitis B and syphilis.
“If there are wounds in the mouth, it’s easy to get infected through blood transfer.”
