Japanese man who bought £12,000 animal costume settles into his new life as a collie

A Japanese man who spent £12,000 on a border collie costume has shown off his new life as a four-legged friend, playing with dog toys and belly rubs.

The man, who goes by the name of Toco, spent two million yen (about £12,000) on the ultra-realistic costume to fulfill his lifelong fantasy of becoming one of man’s best friends.

Toco has now updated his nearly 24,000 YouTube subscribers with a video showing him being taken for walks. The clip also shows him settling into his cage and rubbing his belly.

Toco ordered the costume from manufacturer Zeppet last year and has been enjoying life as a dog ever since. It took the company 40 days to assemble the state-of-the-art costume.

Despite enjoying his four-legged life, Toco revealed that he still hasn’t shared his hobby with some of his friends because he doesn’t want them to think he’s weird.

In his latest update, which has been viewed by nearly half a million people on YouTube to date, Toco was seen walking around a house on all fours. He got scratches on the head before playing with a dog rope.

He was also seen sitting in his cage and settling down for a nap. Another part of the video showed Toco rolling on the floor before rubbing his stomach.

He was even seen being taken for a walk wearing a harness and leash.

Toko has previously spoken out about his love for the four-legged life.

“I made it a Collie because it looks real when I put it on.”

“I thought a large animal close to my size would be good – since it would be a realistic model, so I decided to make it into a dog.”

But in an exclusive interview with MailOnline last year, Toco admitted that he still didn’t have the confidence to tell some of his best friends about his hobby.

“I rarely tell my friends because I’m afraid they’ll think I’m weird,” he said. “My friends and family seemed very surprised when they heard I was turning into an animal.”

Toco said he loves his four-legged life because he enjoys “doing things only dogs do.”

In previous updates, Toco has attempted an outdoor walk. He said in a YouTube video documenting the experience that he felt “nervous and a little scared.”

“I wear a belt because people are surprised when they see me. I’m very nervous,” he said in a video last year.

‘Do you remember your dreams from when you were little? You want to be a hero or a wizard.

“I remember writing in my grade school graduation book that I wanted to be a dog and walk outside.”

Toco has previously shared how he also likes to feel the wind in his fur and roll around in the backyard.

He said he also wore sandals to protect his feet and the bottom of the costume from getting dirty, having spent £12,000 to have the costume made.

His now viral videos have attracted like-minded fans.

One of them commented on his most recent video: “I had just discovered your channel today but after watching a lot of your videos I was really drawn to it and honestly I think it’s pretty healthy especially since you are fulfilling your childhood dream that is fantastic! Keep up the good work and cute content!”

Another wrote, “Although people say this is weird and not normal (it’s not, but still cool) it doesn’t harm anyone and it makes them happy, the suit is also very realistic omg.”

Another said, “Isn’t something you see every day, but it’s unique, so thumbs up for that.”
