Janet Jackson says becoming a mother ‘is the most amazing thing she’s ever done’ and reveals strict rule about her son following in her footsteps in emotional Loose Women interview

Janet Jackson insisted that becoming a mother was “the most amazing thing she’s ever done” and revealed the strict rules she has imposed on her son.

The singer, 58, shares Eissa, seven, with her ex-husband, Wissam Al Mana. She and Wissam officially split just months after he was born.

Janet, who doesn’t want to talk about her son, told how determined she is to ensure he has a normal childhood after she and her famous brothers were thrust into the spotlight at a young age.

In an emotional interview on Monday’s episode of Loose Women, she gave a rare insight into motherhood while chatting to Judi Love.

Jantje has achieved huge success since her start as a child star in the 1970s and while she is “so grateful”, she has stressed that she will not send Eissa down the same path.

She explained, “I’m so thankful that God let me experience motherhood because I didn’t have to. I think about it a lot, it’s amazing because kids don’t realize what you go through as a parent or what you have going on in the background.

“It’s about him. If that’s what he wants, but I would say he should wait until he’s of legal age and still make sure that’s what he wants to do.

Whatever you do, it’s very difficult. The industry is very tough, but he should wait until he’s 18.’

Janet is the tenth and youngest child of the Jackson family. She remembers her brothers, including Michael, becoming child stars in The Jackson 5.

She admits she is “glad” her father encouraged her to follow the same career path, but she still wishes she had the chance to go to university.

She said, “I’m glad because he clearly saw something I didn’t, but I still wish I had experienced college. Or, I should say, university.

‘I always wanted to experience that. I was just a baby when my brothers were successful, so that’s all I ever experienced.

‘I had more of a childhood than my brothers – I started when I was seven. Being so young, I at least got to experience home life on occasion and go back to a regular school, but my brothers didn’t really do that much at all.’
