Janelle Monae cuts a stylish figure in a top hat and corset while promoting Glass Onion

Janelle Monae looked elegant as she arrived at the This day show in New York City on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old Grammy-nominated singer, who revealed in April that she is non-binary and uses the pronouns they/they and she/her, wore a top hat with a veil and a trench coat during her arrival.

On the show, the Glass Onion star opened up about her role in the now-airing sequel to Knives Out. Netflix.

The star, who plays Helen and Andi Brand in the film, wore a black corset over a white button-down shirt and a black and white tie.

The actress wore a pleated midi skirt, a pair of tennis tights and pointed toe stilettos.

As accessories, Janelle donned a top hat with a gathered veil and an anchor in the center.

Monae wore the hat off-center on top of her blonde hair pulled back into a chic bun that also showed off a pair of knife-edge earrings that she sported appropriately in the theme.

For her part in the star-studded hit movie, Janelle said they enjoyed working with the cast and being involved with the project.

“I’m swimming and floating in gratitude right now,” they said.

Monochromatic: The multi-hyphenate talent wore a black corset over a white button-down shirt complete with a black-and-white tie.

“The twist, the twists, the mystery, the backstabbing, all of that, and this role with Andi, I have to say it’s a dream role that I really got to play,” the star continued. ‘I have to have a lot of fun doing this.’

Although filming took place during the ongoing pandemic, Monae said that being in that quarantined bubble allowed the cast to bond and improved their on-screen chemistry.

“Actually, because we were in that COVID bubble, it gave us time to bond,” Janelle said.

‘For example, on weekends, Rian [Johnson, the writer and director] he was sending handwritten notes, ‘Meet me at the hotel bar’ where we were staying, for a Mafia game, a murder mystery game that has nothing to do with the murder mystery we’re filming.’

The multi-hyphenate talent also said that storytelling is the main theme and continuous thread in all of his work.

“Telling stories, I think, through fashion,” said the star. You can tell a beautiful story.

She said, “The twist, the twists, the mystery, the backstabbing, all of that, and this role with Andi, I have to say, it’s a dream role that I really got to play.”

Janelle mentioned that wearing black and white is symbolic.

In 2013, Monae explained to the huffington post that her parents were working-class people, so Janelle wears only black and white as a tribute to her uniform.

“With music, I have stories to sing about,” added the luminary.

“When I take on a role, there’s something to say,” Janelle said. You are part of a set. You are part of something that you feel the world needs to learn and know about.’
