Jane Fonda hilariously THROWS a certificate at the Palme d’Or winner who accidentally left scroll on stage

Jane Fonda hilariously had to throw the Palme d’Or to the winning director at the Cannes Film Festival.

French director Justine Triet received this year’s prize for her thriller Anatomy Of A Fall, about a woman fighting allegations that she killed her husband.

Justine took the stage to proudly accept the award – but in a slapstick corridor of events, she accidentally left a scroll of the award on the lectern.

While Justine clearly walked away at her mistake, Jane, 85, who handed over the prize, hurried to the lectern and took the certificate to hand it over to her.

In a video that went viral on social media, Jane failed to get Justine’s attention and ended up being so annoyed that she threw the award at her.

The winner still didn’t turn around, leaving a stunned Jane who spread her arms wide in a gesture of frustration.

A man on stage also picked up the piece of paper and tried to hand it to Justine, who was so engrossed in the moment that she still didn’t notice it.

Justine was one of a record seven female directors in the running for this year’s Palme d’Or, becoming only the third female winner in history.

While presenting the award on stage, Jane noted that the first Cannes Film Festival she attended was in 1963, adding: “There weren’t any women directors competing at the time, and it didn’t even occur to us that there were something was wrong with it.’

Jane Campion became the first woman to earn a Palme d’Or for her 1993 drama The Piano, followed by Julia Ducournau for the 2021 body horror film Titane.

Titane, which wowed audiences with its wacky storyline featuring a woman impregnated by a Cadillac, was a notoriously polarizing choice.

This year’s Cannes included a Rendezvous with Jane Fonda that made headlines for the veteran actress’ gossip, some compiled by deadline.

She berated her old associates, accused Robert Redford of having “a problem with women,” and theorized that Michael Douglas “probably doesn’t like me.”

Jane also expressed a personal distaste for Jean-Luc Godard, saying, “He was a great filmmaker. I take off my hat. A great filmmaker. But as a man? I’m sorry. No no.’

Lee Marvin, on the other hand, was “fantastic” and “always drunk,” and working with her father and Katharine Hepburn on On Golden Pond was “one of the most glorious experiences of my life.” It was absolutely amazing.’

Jane herself won an honorary Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2007, plus the festival’s Kering Women In Motion Award in 2015.

Kering, whose CEO François-Henri Pinault, husband of Salma Hayek, is a top-notch French luxury goods company with a glittering list of subsidiaries, including Yves Saint-Laurent, Balenciaga, Gucci and Alexander McQueen.
