‘Wanting to be skinny as a bone is not good. It is not good for your health, and it is not good for your mind to be so deprived. Someone in bed with you might not like it either, because you can hurt your hip bones!

The Book Club star, who is slim by nature, said the exercise is “still relevant today” but performs the movement more slowly and uses modifications to stay in shape.

‘You want to be able to take your grandchildren. And I can still do that.

Growing up, the 9-5 star winner revealed that she felt she had to ‘side’ with her father, the legendary actor Henry Fonda.

“I grew up thinking that you have to go with the man, identify with the man, please the man… You have to be around the men.”

‘When I got married for the first time, to a French director [Robert Vadim]I served him hand and foot. One of his friends said about me once: “God, he’s so cool, he’s like a boy” and I thought: “My God, what a compliment!” That was my mentality then.

The Barbarella star said that when she left Vadim and returned to the US from France, she thought the women’s movement was a waste of time and that she should focus on ending the war in Vietnam.

“Being around these women made me look through a keyhole at the world we were trying to create: a world of justice, equality and peace, without racism,” she explained. They were kind, they were present. They were very different from the women he had known before, and I began to want to be like them.

It wasn’t until she saw The Vagina Monologues in 2000. “So in terms of really understanding feminism and learning to love women, and loving the fact that I’m a woman only happened to me 23 years ago.”

The Grace and Frankie star, who has reinvigorated her Friday Fire Drill protests to call attention to climate change and fight for policy changes in the US, recently signed on as an ambassador for H&M’s Move campaign.

On Instagram, she explained in a video that part of the goal of working with the global clothing company is equality. ‘Together we are on a mission to fight for equal access to sports.’

The collaboration may seem confusing to fans of Jane, especially since she’s talked about not buying clothes for the past three years. ‘Dumping is one of the main ways we are destroying the world and oceans. H&M accepts returns at its stores through its Garment Collecting program to recycle them for you.’
