Jane Fonda said at age 84 she knows she doesn’t have much time left in her life and feels she’s “ready” to go.

That told the Grace And Frankie actress Entertainment tonight that she’s just being “realistic” about her future as she has more time behind her than ahead of her and she “won’t be around for long.”

But the mother-of-three — who is a two-time Oscar winner and environmentalist — said she thinks she’s had a “great life.”

“When you get to be my age you better be aware of the amount of time behind you rather than ahead of you, I mean that’s just realistic,” says the actress – whose father is Grapes Of Wrath actor Henry Fonda is — said in a video with ET.

“I’m not afraid to go, I’m ready, I’ve had a great life.”

Fonda added that she’s not looking forward to the death, but she knows it’s looming: “Not that I want to go, but I’m aware it will be sooner rather than later.”

In September, Fonda revealed she had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a cancer that begins in the lymphatic system, a part of the body’s immune system dedicated to fighting germs.

A middle age hit: Jane then shared that getting older doesn’t have to be scary, adding that she wants to raise awareness that there are ways to age in both positive and healthy ways. (Pictured left in 1983 and right in 1985)

She wrote on Instagram, “This is a very treatable cancer. Eighty percent of people survive, so I feel very lucky. I am also lucky to have health insurance and access to the best doctors and treatments. I realize, and it is painful, that I am privileged in this.’

She also told ET that she doesn’t feel well after the chemo, but after some rest she’s fine.

And she said she will throw a party for her 85th birthday in December.

“My family will be there,” she said. “My daughter and grandchildren are from Vermont and my son and his wife and child, who live in Los Angeles, and some friends are coming over, and we’ll just have a quiet time.”

In August, the Barefoot In The Park star said she believes “it takes a long time to get young,” citing the painter Picasso, saying it has nothing to do with how someone looks.

She told the Announce sun she felt “lost” in her 20s, saying she was “really unhappy and I felt old and didn’t feel like I was going to live very long.”

She clarified that by “young,” she meant, “Light, not feeling a great burden on my shoulders.” Learning to be present, learning to accept what comes, learning that we have no control.’

The On Golden Pond star went on to say, ‘It’s much easier to be older than it is to be younger. It’s so hard to be young! There are nothing but questions.

“Don’t give up, keep going and try to learn from all of this so that when you get a little older you can have more agency in your life,” she continued.

“It took me about 70 years to get young,” she added.

Jane also told Fashion this year she is ‘not proud’ of a facelift.

She said, “I had a facelift and stopped because I don’t want to look distorted. I’m not proud of the fact that I had one.

“Now, I don’t know if I had to do it over if I did it. But I did. I’ll admit it, and then I’ll just say, okay, you can get addicted. Don’t keep doing it. Many women, I don’t know, are addicted to it.’

Jane then discussed that getting older doesn’t have to be scary, adding that she wants to raise awareness that there are ways to age, both in a positive and a healthy way.

‘I want young people to stop being afraid of getting older. It’s not about age, not about that chronological number. It’s about your health,” she explained, noting that her father died of heart disease when he was “six years younger than she is now.”

Jane began acting on the Broadway stage in 1960, before kickstarting her Hollywood career soon after when she starred in a series of successful films, including Sunday In New York in 1963 and Barbarella in 1968.
