Jamie Redknapp insists Tottenham boss Antonio Conte “has spent money on very good players” despite the manager saying he needs more depth in his team.
The Italian coach has expressed in recent weeks his desire for reinforcements in the next transfer window, amid Spurs’ losing streak.
However, during live coverage on Sky Sports on Wednesday night, Redknapp suggested that the Italian has made plenty of signings since joining Tottenham, but admitted that the team “needs depth”.

The former Spurs midfielder said: “The way Tottenham is, if you start asking for more money it doesn’t always work out in the best way.
He wants to win. He wants more funds. But he has spent good money there. Bentancur, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Bissouma, Perisic, Romero.
He has spent money on some very good players. I think he just wants a little more depth in the team.
During their recent 2-0 loss to Aston Villa, Tottenham only had Ryan Sessegnon and Emerson Royal to fall back on in the way of attacking options on the bench.
It was only this week that the Italian manager admitted he would walk away from Tottenham if he cannot agree to manage a club not yet ready to challenge for the biggest prizes.
The Italian has not ruled out leaving if he feels that the club is not prepared to compete for titles
Despite recent concerns, Conte insisted he is “really committed” to Spurs, however he has yet to extend his contract at the club.
The Italian’s current contract expires at the end of this season, although there is an option for another year.
Conte has so far stalled on agreeing to a new contract after holding talks with Spurs bosses during the World Cup.
Spurs came under fire after their abject performance in a 2-0 home loss to Villa on Sunday.
