Jamie Redknapp says Tottenham went back to their bad old habits in the defeat to Fulham and it should be a warning sign for boss Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs missed the chance to rise above Aston Villa into fourth place in the Premier League after losing 3-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Redknapp told Sky Sports: ‘When I have watched Tottenham this season there has been so much joy in their play, I have enjoyed it immensely. I thought these kinds of performances were a thing of the past, I didn’t think we would see them again under Ange Postecoglou.

‘They were off it from minute one. They had a few more moments towards the end of the first half. I’m looking for excuses. Yes, (Micky) Van de Ven (who is injured) is a big one because he is such an important player, but there have been other games he hasn’t played and they have been fine

‘There was no energy. Players who made great achievements… Destiny Udogie was fantastic, but today – so away with it. (Yves) Bisssouma and (James) Maddison in midfield never won individual battles

‘I was impressed. I almost wanted to hear an excuse from the manager that there was a lasagna gate, a flu in the team. I can’t fathom what I saw in terms of their energy. The objectives embodied it.”

Spurs started this match on a high after an emphatic win over Aston Villa last weekend.

It meant fifth-placed Tottenham could leapfrog Villa and regain fourth spot with all three points at Craven Cottage, but they were blown away when Rodrigo Muniz continued his excellent form with a goal either side of half-time.

Sasa Lukic also found the net after 49 minutes with his first goal for Fulham, who have now won four of their last six games

‘After the way they played against Aston Villa in the second half and blew them away, they came into this game with an air of arrogance. The Premier League isn’t like that, this could be the warning Ange Postecoglou needs.

‘I would have been in that dressing room if I were him, absolutely furious and pointing fingers at players saying, ‘If you think that’s good enough, we won’t make the top four or even the top five’.

‘They have to get themselves going again. That was so unusual from what I’ve seen this season, it was just like the previous two or three seasons.”
