Jamie Redknapp insists Spurs could have scored SIX at Old Trafford had Son Heung-min not been ruled out of Man United clash – after Timo Werner missed a pair of big chances
Jamie Redknapp insisted Tottenham could have scored six times against Man United if Son Heung-min had been fit to start.
The Spurs captain suffered a blow in their Europa League victory over Qarabag in midweek, but Ange Postecoglou was hopeful he would return in time for Sunday’s match.
However, the short turnaround proved too much for Son and he was left out of the matchday squad, with Timo Werner taking his place for his first Premier League start of the season.
Despite being unable to call on their talisman, Spurs ran riot against Erik ten Hag’s hapless side at Old Trafford, with Brennan Johnson putting them ahead after just three minutes.
Goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke secured a comfortable victory for the visitors, but the result ultimately belied how many chances they created.

Speaking after the match, Redknapp insisted the result could have been even more emphatic had Son been fit to start.
“They are brave,” the 51-year-old said of his former club.
‘[Postecoglou] Bissouma could have played as a defensive midfielder. He does take risks.
‘If Son had played today, there would have been six. It was a statement victory. There have been some really good performances.
‘Kulusevski is full of confidence. He has that pace. He looks like a complete midfielder.’
Werner’s blistering pace made him a constant thorn in United’s side, but his finishing repeatedly proved lacking in the most decisive moments.
With the score still at 1-0 in the first half, the former Chelsea striker found himself one-on-one with United goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The onrushing keeper did well to block the effort, but Werner will have been disappointed not to have doubled his side’s lead.
Another big chance came from Werner after the break, but his effort was again denied by Onana, after which the goalkeeper brilliantly deflected Solanke from close range.
