Jamie Lee Curtis reflects on getting an Oscar nomination in the same category as her famous mother

Jamie Lee Curtis follows directly in the footsteps of her famous mother.

While walking the red carpet at the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday, Curtis opened up to People about the fact that she was nominated in the same Oscar category as her mother, Janet Leigh.

‘You know, I didn’t think of that. I mean, I knew it; I was aware of it. I never thought that would happen,” the True Lies star said.

“Because my parents and their fame and stardom were so legendary that I never felt like I would be anywhere near the level. It’s a beautiful link. It’s a lineage link,” Curtis said.

The 64-year-old Freaky Friday actress received her first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

More than 60 years ago, his mother, Leigh, achieved her greatest success playing Marion Crane in Alfred Hitchcock’s psychological thriller Psycho (1960).

For her performance, Leigh won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Curtis has now been nominated in the same category as her mother. The Oscars take place next weekend, March 12.

Jamie Lee’s father, Tony Curtis, was a megastar throughout his acting career, which spanned six decades, reaching the height of his popularity in the 1950s and early 1960s.

He has acted in over 100 films, in roles spanning a wide range of genres, with highlights including Some Like It Hot and Sweet Smell Of Success. In her later years, Curtis made numerous television appearances.

In December, the veteran actress reflected on being the daughter of famous parents Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh.

Curtis said, ‘there isn’t a day in’ her ‘professional life that goes by without being reminded that she is ‘the daughter of movie stars.’

His comments came after New York Magazine’s recent controversial nepotism-themed cover featuring Dakota Johnson, Maya Hawke, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Hanks, Miley Cyrus, Hailey Bieber, Gwyneth Paltrow and more.

Jamie Lee said, “I’ve been a professional actress since I was 19, that makes me an OG Nepo Baby.”

“I have never understood, nor will I, what qualities got me hired that day, but from my first two lines about Quincy as a contract player at Universal Studios to this spectacular creative last year some 44 years later,” Curtis said.

On Saturday, the Halloween Ends star, who recently snapped an iconic selfie with Tom Cruise, presented Daniel Kwan with the Spirit Award for best screenplay for Everything Everywhere All at Once, which nearly swept the show with wins.

The first award of the evening went to Ke Huy Quan for Best Supporting Actor for Everything Everywhere All At Once, for which his co-star Curtis was also nominated.

Another win for the film came when Stephanie Hsu picked up the Best Breakthrough Performance award for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

The award for Best Leading Performance went to Michelle Yeoh for Everything Everywhere All At Once. Everything Everywhere All At Once also took home the Best Picture award.
