Jamie Foxx was seen smiling and waving to fans on a boat as he cruises the Chicago River

Nearly three months after his mysterious illness and hospitalization, Jamie Foxx appears to be on the mend and in good spirits, making his first public appearance since mid-April.

The 55-year-old actor (born Eric Marlon Bishop) was seen Sunday afternoon on a boat cruising the Chicago River, as seen in video obtained by TMZ.

The actor was spotted waving to fans and flashing the peace sign as the two stores passed each other.

In mid-April, Foxx was rushed to the hospital in Atlanta where he was filming the movie Back in Action with Cameron Diaz, who had retired for his film.

Foxx’s daughter Corrine first broke the news on her Instagram account, calling it a “medical complication,” though nothing else has been confirmed about the incident.

Just a month before the mysterious illness, reports surfaced that Foxx had a “meltdown” on the Back in Action set in Atlanta, reportedly firing an executive producer, two directors, and his own personal driver.

An insider claimed: ‘He demanded that the problems be resolved immediately and fired four of the production staff – as if that would magically improve the situation’.

“Some of the people working on it are fed up with how this turned out and Jamie has become quite unpopular,” said the source.

Less than a month later, Foxx was hospitalized in Atlanta for an unspecified, “medical complication,” which has yet to be fully confirmed.

“We just wanted to share that my dad, Jamie Foxx, had a medical complication yesterday [Tuesday],” the family statement began.

“Fortunately, with quick action and good care, he is already on his way to recovery,” they continued.

“We know how loved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family requests privacy during this time,” the statement concluded.

Boxing legend Mike Tyson claimed Foxx had suffered a stroke, but that has yet to be confirmed by the actor’s family.

After spending several weeks in the hospital in Atlanta, he began his rehabilitation process in Chicago and has remained there ever since.

TMZ also claimed to have obtained more footage of Foxx out and about in Chicago on Saturday night, with Foxx reportedly “in a good mood.”

The actor will next star in Netflix’s They Cloned Tyrone starring John Boyega and Kiefer Sutherland, which premieres July 21.

Foxx also voices Bug in the upcoming R-rated comedy Strays, which opens nationwide on August 18, and plays The Ferryman in God Is a Bullet.
