Jamie Carragher tips Man City to win the Champions League this season… but Richards picks Napoli

Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards have given their take on who they think will win this season’s Champions League with the former Premier League stars picking Man City and Napoli respectively.

The players-turned-experts spoke during Tuesday’s coverage of the return of competition on CBS Sports.

“I think Napoli is the fit team,” Carragher said. “I would love to see them win, but I think this could be Manchester City’s season.”

However, Richards doesn’t think his old team will end the wait for a first win in the competition, instead singles out the runaway leaders of Serie A.

“I think Napoli,” he said. ‘Napoli with his form has been brilliant. In terms of standout favourites, it’s tough, but in form I think Napoli.

‘If I were a betting man and I was betting money at the moment in terms of form, I would choose Napoli. When I watch them and the dynamics, they defend well, they attack well.

Arsenal legend Henry was unable to pick a team, saying: “For the first time, I don’t see a clear favourite.”

‘In the end we always know that the big shots are in the final or one of the big ones usually wins. It’s open, but you still have to knock out those guys.

Man City take on RB Leipzig in the round of 16, while Napoli take on Eintracht Frankfurt.

City have emerged as bookmakers’ favorites with Bayern Munich just behind them after Tuesday’s first-leg win over PSG.
