‘It looks like an aging team is coming to an end, that was SHAMBOLIC’: Jamie Carragher criticizes Liverpool when they concede two before half time during a 3-1 defeat at Brentford… while Gary Neville calls for a ‘change of plan’ of the high line of Klopp

Jamie Carragher has attacked the Liverpool defense after they lost 3-1 to Brentford in their Premier League clash.

The home side took the lead after a 39th-minute corner kick, with Ibrahim Konate putting the finishing touches as the Reds struggled to deal with Brentford’s onslaught. Yoane Wissa doubled the lead before the break with an excellent header that Alisson couldn’t take off.

Liverpool pulled one back thanks to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but Bryan Mbeumo finished the game off with a late third Bees goal.

Jamie Carragher called his former team’s half of his fist defense ‘absolutely chaotic’

Carragher criticized his former team’s defence, calling them “absolutely chaotic” and commenting on Sky Sports: “It’s the first time they’ve conceded from a corner this season, but it’s not the first time they’ve conceded from a counter-attack, which is where the corner came

‘They have been given so much to do so often. Liverpool have struggled all season against teams that have intensity and aggressiveness. It looks like an aging team coming to an end, and that was chaotic.

He added that Liverpool were “not in the races” against an energetic and well-supported Brentford side.

For Gary Neville, the first half was yet another example of poor Liverpool defending this season. He said: ‘Sometimes you watch a team taking a corner and it looks dangerous, they just lose it. It looked dangerous with all those players at the near post.

Virgil van Dijk was one of three Liverpool players substituted at half-time, even though he was injured

“It had seemed so easy for [Liverpool] back in recent years, but now gaps are opening up. We’ve seen this high line for five years and it’s been great, but this is happening too often now, we could be heading towards a change of plans for Jurgen Klopp.”

Klopp’s side have now conceded in each of their last eight Premier League games, and their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League hang in the balance.

Micah Richards agreed with the pairing, as he said at half time: “Liverpool held that ridiculously high line and Brentford blew it up.” There is no organization. Nobody knows what they are doing. I have been stunned with Liverpool, there has been no concentration.
