‘It’s a LIABILITY!’: Jamie Carragher slams Hugo Lloris after the Tottenham goalkeeper was guilty of more mistakes in their loss to Man City, with Antonio Conte urged to replace the Frenchman
Jamie Carragher has described Hugo Lloris as “responsible” in a brutal criticism of the Tottenham goalkeeper after his defeat against Manchester City.
The French goalkeeper got into trouble trying to clear out danger in the run-up to Julián Álvarez’s goal and was then beaten by Riyad Mahrez at his near post as City came from two goals down to win 4-2.
It was after a costly mistake in last weekend’s North London derby loss to Arsenal that he unleashed a Bukayo Saka cross into his own net.

Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports after Thursday night’s game, said Spurs badly need someone new between the sticks.
‘The Tottenham goalkeeper right now has been a good Tottenham goalkeeper. He now he has become a liability and they need to change him, ”he said.
They need a new goalkeeper for the next season. When Antonio Conte talks about taking them further or maybe making the top four or fighting for big honours, they need a new goalkeeper.
Spurs have won just one of five league outings since the post-World Cup restart, putting a dent in their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

The Tottenham goalkeeper has faced criticism in recent weeks after a series of mistakes
They are fifth at present, but with a difference of five points to make up for Newcastle United in fourth.
Carragher also suggested that Conte’s problems are not exclusively Lloris’s.
They need two center backs, they need a right back. That is not entering the squad, that is playing. That is exactly what they need right now,” he added.
‘That’s what I come back to: Conte doesn’t have the players who want to play in their own way, which is defensive football, which is counter-attacking football.
Lloris deflected a Bukayo Saka cross into his own goal during the north London derby last Sunday
“He has the attacking players, but he doesn’t have the defenders to leave clean sheets.”
Gary Neville also criticized Lloris and his mistakes during Sky’s game commentary.
After Mahrez beat Lloris at his near post for City’s third, Neville said: “I have to say the keeper is on a rough patch. He has to save that.
‘He hits well, Mahrez, but that can’t get past him at the near post. Despite the diversion, he has to prevent her from entering.
