Jamie Carragher makes ANOTHER awkward joke as CBS host Kate Abdo delivers major announcement – after pundit landed himself in hot water for claiming she was ‘not loyal’ to new boxing trainer husband Malik Scott
Jamie Carragher couldn’t resist making another awkward joke about Kate Abdo when the Champions League aired again on CBS Sports on Tuesday night.
As the American channel started broadcasting the match between Liverpool and AC Milan, presenter Abdo made an important personal announcement.
Abdo, 43, had introduced herself and the expert team of Carragher, Thierry Henry and Micah Richards in the usual way, but then revealed she had just signed an “exclusive contract”.
“I signed an exclusive contract this summer… with my new husband,” she proudly proclaimed, prompting a huge response from Carragher and Co.
Abdo then asked the show’s producer to post a new image in which she reintroduced herself as Kate Scott, after marrying boxing trainer Malik Scott earlier this month.

As Jamie Carragher hugged her on Tuesday night, he awkwardly joked: “Malik’s not here, is he?”
His joke came just months after he claimed Abdo was “not loyal” to Scott
Carragher tried to laugh off his awkward joke in March, but Abdo was visibly upset by the comment
CBS then showed footage from the wedding, showing the bride and groom exchanging vows, Scott holding his new wife and the couple cutting the cake.
It was an intimate ceremony and Carragher said wittily: ‘Where are all your friends?’
Abdo took the joke positively, but a moment later things became a bit more awkward when the entire panel stood up to hug and congratulate Abdo.
Richards and Henry went first before Carragher stepped forward. As he hugged Abdo, he joked: ‘Malik’s not here, is he?’
His comment prompted a fit of laughter from Henry and Richards, but Abdo seemed less impressed. She let out an awkward chuckle before sitting back down.
Carragher’s joke may not have gone down well, considering he made it just a few months ago during CBS Sports’ coverage of Arsenal’s match against Porto last season, bizarrely claiming that Abdo was “not loyal” to Scott.
The former Liverpool defender pulled on an Arsenal shirt after the match, but Abdo refused as the Manchester United fan insisted she was ‘loyal’.
Carragher responded with: ‘Not to Malik’, leaving Abdo and his fellow experts stunned.
Abdo replied, “What? How can you say that?” while Henry and Richards smiled uncomfortably.
Carragher then attempted to explain the comment, noting that Scott “hasn’t been mentioned on the show tonight.”
Scott branded Carragher ‘obnoxious’ over his joke about his relationship with Abdo in March, and threatened to ‘appear in a physical manner’ to confront the former Liverpool defender
Scott, a former boxer who now trains Deontay Wilder, called Carragher “obnoxious” after his ill-judged joke and threatened to “show physical” if he upset Abdo.
Carragher apologized and Abdo settled the matter the following night during CBS’ Champions League broadcast, but she later admitted she felt “hurt” when he questioned her relationship.
The CBS team is known for their on-screen chemistry, but Carragher risked new trouble with Scott after his latest comment.
