Jamie Carragher is adamant Harry Kane will go down as Tottenham’s greatest player ever after the forward leveled with Jimmy Greaves’ record, as Gary Neville compares the Spurs man to Alan Shearer, calling him ” the most reliable of finishers.”

Jamie Carragher has insisted that Harry Kane will become Tottenham’s best ever player.

The striker moved level with Jimmy Greaves at the top of Spurs’ all-time top scorer lists with his 266th goal for the club against Fulham, and he looks set to surpass the total sooner rather than later.

Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, called Kane “one of the greats”, while also praising his consistency over the years.

Carragher praised Kane’s consistency, describing the forward as ‘one of the greatest’

“Year after year it delivers,” Carragher began. We see him every year getting between 25 and 30 goals per season.

“When you think of the absolute greats, he is one of the greats. He will go down as Tottenham’s greatest player of all time.

Gary Neville, also speaking on Sky, compared Kane to Alan Shearer, whose Premier League goalscoring record of 260 goals could be chased by the forward before retiring.

“He (Kane) is the most reliable of the finishers,” Neville said. “Alan Shearer was an incredible finisher, and it was his mentality that was important to me, and I think Kane has the same mentality.

That is the highest compliment I can give you.

Kane’s 266th Tottenham goal came against Fulham when he fired towards the end of the first half at Craven Cottage.

Carragher turned his attention to Tottenham’s performance against Fulham as they posted a 1-0 win over Fulham.

It was their first win in three Premier League games after back-to-back losses to Arsenal and Manchetser City, and it lifted spirits at the club after a difficult few weeks.

“In terms of tonight, we’ve all been there as players when it comes to the performance,” Carragher said. ‘You need to get the results and then you can build from there.

‘Tonight it was just about getting the result. Craven Cottage is a difficult place for Marco Silva.

Neville added: “If you had offered Tottenham this role at the start of the season you would say, ‘Yes, that’s right.’ I think they will get stronger as the season goes on. Football has been a bit flat at times and just they need that spark.
