Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea were lucky not to concede a second penalty against Liverpool.
Arne Slot’s team took the lead just before the half hour through a penalty from Mohamed Salah, after Levi Colwill brought down Curtis Jones.
Jones was involved in another incident when he went down after colliding with Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez in extra time of the first half.
Referee John Brooks immediately pointed to the spot and gave Liverpool a chance to double their lead.
However, the referee was sent for an on-field VAR review and overturned his decision after ruling that Sánchez had made contact with the ball before making contact.
Former Reds defender Carragher told Sky Sports: ‘I think Chelsea are lucky. At the second corner it looks like it’s not a penalty.
‘I don’t think the goalkeeper gets enough of the ball. Touching and completely incapacitating someone is not enough. I think Chelsea is very lucky.’
Ex-Chelsea and Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge added: ‘Initially I thought it was going to fall over.
‘Jones waits, that gives the chance of a collision. That looks like a pen, but the other corner doesn’t.’
Chelsea leveled just three minutes after the break thanks to Nicolas Jackson’s clinical finish.
But Jones put the ball past Sanchez to regain Liverpool’s lead. d just three minutes later
