Jamie Carragher has criticized Marcus Rashford after his shocking interview on Monday.
The £375,000-a-week star announced he is ready for a ‘new challenge’ away from Man United after 20 years at the club, just a day after being left out of his side’s dramatic derby win over Man City.
Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim refused to close the door on Rashford’s career on Wednesday by insisting he wants to keep the winger going forward, but Mail Sport previously revealed the club would be willing to sanction a sale for a fee of approximately £40m.
Carragher criticized the 27-year-old’s mentality and argued that his comments have put United in a bad position as potential suitors are now aware that United have a useless asset at the club, meaning they cannot can demand a high price for his talents.
“I mean, that puts the club in a really bad position… in terms of negotiating his departure at some point,” the Liverpool legend said.
‘So if he really believes that he still wants to be a Manchester United player and still wants to have a great career, you don’t make a statement like that.

‘Garnacho has his chance. Okay, he’s involved tonight.
“Rashford, that’s what he should have been hoping for tonight, and then falling short, which he can do on the field, without making a statement about it. It’s time to move on.’
Carragher went on to say that Rashford’s high wage demands, combined with his poor form, would not make him an attractive signing, even arguing that his 30-goal season in 2022/2023 was ‘out of this world’.
“I mean, people keep using his wages as a reason there’s no market [for Rashford] and I understand that,” he added.
‘And you know, another thing: people keep talking about thirty goals. Now 30 goals is a very large number. It’s out of this world.’
Jamie Redknapp shared Carragher’s concerns, adding that Rashford’s attitude on the pitch could discourage other clubs from pursuing him.
“I think his attitude on the pitch would be concerning to any club or any interested party,” he said.
“Now we saw it last year at times when there were times when he just wasn’t running and that, that’s my biggest fear for him, that he has to somehow fall in love with football again.”
