James Purefoy broke down in tears live on This Morning on Tuesday while chatting with hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle.
The 58-year-old actor, who hails from Taunton in Somerset, was overcome with emotion as he joined Josie, 37, from Bristol over their West Country accents.
James told Josie as she broke down in tears, ‘Look at me, I’m a mess!’

James said he was delighted to hear her accent on national television.
‘I was born in Taunton, yes I’m crying… look at me, honestly, what a mess!’ he said to her as he laughed through his tears.
‘I don’t think you hear a West Country accent [on television] very often and when you do, they are often stereotypical and not who you want to be associated with.

‘I don’t think you hear a western country accent [on television] very often and when you do, they are often stereotyped and not who you want to be associated with,” he explained.
“So when you hear it as part of a normal day on TV, it’s really nice to hear.”
‘Aww, James, thank you so much,’ Josie replied, before saying that her accent came out as they talked to each other.
It comes after Ofcom warned the BBC in November last year to become less ‘London-centric’ in order to achieve impartiality.

Josie and Craig fill in for regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who are on break for the festive period.
The couple will return to the show in January and have pre-recorded a Christmas special that will air on December 25.
Last week, Holly revealed that she and her family were enjoying a pre-Christmas vacation at a luxurious ski resort in the French Alps.
The complex costs £1,000 per night.

Meanwhile, Phillip recently joked about his New Year’s plans: ‘That really is a lovely phase. I never tend to make New Year’s resolutions because I know I won’t keep them!
“But by 2023 we’ll both be back on This Morning and then Dancing on Ice, which is always the next thing we look forward to for us in the New Year and before you know it when Dancing on Ice ends, it’s spring…”
