James Maddison has taken full responsibility after Bournemouth’s careless error took all three points at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes’ number ten has been the club’s talisman so often this season, but had to forget that Bournemouth scored the only goal of the game.

It was Maddison’s sloppy back pass to goalkeeper Daniel Iversen that was utilized by the Cherries Philip Billing and saw the Danish midfielder take the winner ahead of Gary O’Neil’s men.

After the goal and the final whistle, boos were heard in the stadium, as fans vented their frustrations on the team. Some went too far, forcing Maddison to deactivate his social media accounts after reacting to his mistake and the result.

Well speaking Sky Sports after the game, the England striker did not shy away from the mistake, but admitted to being bitterly disappointed by his mistake.

“It was a really hard one to take. I’m very low right now.’ Madison said.

“We knew it was a big game and we didn’t try to dress it up as something else. We worked very hard. I made a careless mistake and it cost us. I am very low.

“I am always hungry to do well for the team. I tried to erase it and not do too much to make up for it. It couldn’t be today. It’s a painful one.

I am very low and sad in the defeat because my mistake more or less cost the team. We need to dust off and go again. I’ll be sad tonight and probably tomorrow, but we’ll continue on Monday.’

The defeat leaves Leicester second from bottom in the Premier League, and now two points out of safety with eight games to play.

Despite their predicament, the 26-year-old remains positive about the club’s chances of survival and believes there is still time to turn around Leicester’s fortunes.
