James Maddison has dismissed claims that Leicester played poorly on Saturday during their 1-0 defeat against Southampton, responding to media criticism on social media.
Brendan Rodger’s side suffered a narrow defeat in their crucial six-point game against the Saints at the weekend, falling to 15th in the table, just two points above the relegation zone.
Carlos Alcaraz’s first-half goal gave the hosts a vital lead before half-time, and Leicester fought back to level the score with a second-half equalizer, failing to register a single shot on target despite 11 attempts from goal.
Furious with media criticism of Leicester’s performance, Maddison took to social media on Tuesday to respond to claims that the Foxes are at serious relegation risk.
He urged that his team “created numerous brilliant opportunities” at St Mary’s and will have no problem escaping the drop if they match those efforts in future games.
