James Gunn reveals Pete Davidson has SURPRISE cameo in newly released Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
James Gunn confirmed in a tweet on Sunday that Saturday Night Live alumnus Pete Davidson made a cameo in the recently released Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 continued.
The 56-year-old filmmaker and co-CEO of DC Studios also shared some behind-the-scenes snaps taken during the shooting of the third installment in the franchise, which received rave reviews from fans after it was released in theaters on May 5. .
Gunn, who wrote and directed the final film in the Guardians series, responded to a fan question: “Did you voice anyone in the film?” And who voiced Pete Davidson?’ Fans were also curious after seeing the comedian’s name in the credits.
“I voiced the lovely Lambshank. I don’t want to show her here because she’s too pretty and I don’t want people to feel bad about themselves by comparison,” he had typed.
“And my friend Pete not only did his voice, but even came to visit us in Atlanta for a day and played Phlektik on set.”

James uploaded a selfie he took with Pete and Chris Pratt while hard at work during production.
The Bupkis actor was seen sporting a small smile as he wore an all black ensemble with flecks of dirt and grime on his face.
Reprising his role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Pratt stood next to the comedic actor as he popped into the selfie wearing a dark blue and red outfit.
Another behind-the-scenes photo showed Davidson crouching on the floor to join other cast members, including Zoe Saldana. The last photo added showed Pete in full character wearing a full alien costume.
James and The King Of Staten Island star are no strangers to working together, with Pete notably appearing in the 2021 film The Suicide Squad playing the character named Blackguard.
In 2018, Gunn had been fired from Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 due to controversial tweets, but it was confirmed that he would be rehired the following year in 2019.
According to an article published by The Hollywood Reporter by April, cast members had stepped in to bring James back into the project, including Chris and Zoe.
The two stars ventured to Marvel headquarters to speak with its chief creative officer, Kevin Feige, as well as co-president Louis D’Esposito and then-head of production Victoria Alonso, according to the publication.

Fellow castmate, David Bautista, also called out Disney for Gunn’s firing. Zoe told the outlet, “This was a guy who took risks with us, and it just made sense for us to support him when he needed it most.”

Pete has also filtered through his own busy schedule, from bumping into his ex-girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, at the 2023 MET Gala earlier last week and supporting the WGA during the strike by handing out free pizza to NYC picketers.
He was set to return to SNL as host on an episode that aired on May 6, but was cut due to the writers’ strike.
Earlier this month, Pete also sadly revealed that his dog, Henry, “an important member of the Davidson family” had passed away because he became “very sick very quickly.”
