Reflecting on the great success of his show, James added to Zoe, ‘It’s been extraordinary the response to the show; online, international. I wasn’t always sure it would work.

‘I don’t look like I should be hosting an American late night talk show, I’m from High Wycombe! It’s a road less traveled. It’s been a wonderful ride.’

Fans were recently treated to a clip of James’ last ever Carpool Karaoke with his good friend Adele, who James had no idea was participating.

He shared his joy and gratitude that the Hello singer filmed this with him, sharing, “We got the show with Adele’s carpool, a carpool I didn’t know would happen. I looked at it and it felt so wonderful, I can’t believe she did that for us.

The Late Late Show, which is filmed from Los Angeles, first premiered in 1995 with host Tom Snyder. Craig Kilborn and Craig Ferguson followed as hosts until James Corden came along in 2015.

Corden vowed to “go out with a bang” when he informed the public of his decision to step down as host of The Late Late Show.

Revealing the news on the latest episode of the American talk show, he said the show had “changed my life” and promised there would be “lots of tears” when his tenure came to an end.

“Seven and a half years ago I started hosting this show and I can’t say it any other way, it changed my life,” he said.
