The much-loved presenter, 45, was a real star of the evening when he won the 2024 Variety Club Silver Heart Award for Outstanding Global Achievements in Broadcasting, Acting and Comedy.
The comedian flashed a cheerful smile as he posed next to Ruth, 57.
The pair have been close friends off-screen for years, and the Welsh actress appeared in her highest spirits as she supported James’ winning night.
The former TV presenter looked suave in a classic black suit combination with matching tie, holding his precious heart-shaped gong close to his chest as he posed proudly.

The Variety Club Showbusiness Awards celebrated 75 years of Variety at The Londoner Hotel on Sunday.
Amanda Holden took to the stage to host the glamorous evening and raise money for the children’s charity.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge also presented last year’s star-studded event, which was held at the London Hilton in Park Lane.
It comes after Amanda proved she is committed to her work when she was faced with a nightmare during her commute earlier this month after being locked down in her Spanish villa.
The radio star tried to leave the villa in the early hours to go to a studio to connect with her Heart Breakfast show in Britain, but ran into trouble when she arrived at the gate.
Amanda shared a video of the hilarious morning on Instagram, telling her followers: ‘I’m trying to do Heart from Spain but I’m locked in the building!’
Pointing to an outbuilding, she exclaimed “we found some ladders” before the video showed the star, coffee in hand, climbing over the tall fence.
Joking that she “spoke fluent Spanish,” Amanda also tried to communicate what was going on with the driver waiting for her on the other side of the fence.
