James Corden and Ruth Jones have spilled the beans about the very bizarre writing process behind Gavin & Stacey’s Christmas special.
The English presenter, 46, and the Welsh actress, 58, who are both writers on the highly anticipated episode, will appear on screen one last time for Gavin and Stacey: The Finale on One on BBC One on Wednesday.
The duo joined hosts Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby on the Capital FM Breakfast Show for an insightful chat ahead of the special launch.
They admitted to using some rather unorthodox methods to find inspiration, such as the time a bag of chocolate buttons sparked a writing session in a Heathrow Airport hotel.
“There are a lot of hotel rooms we’ve written in,” James said.
Ruth interjected: ‘One of the particularly exotic ones was that I was in Scotland last year and we only had one sort of day where we could both write, and we had to make the most of the time we had, so I flew down . to Heathrow from Inverness.’

“I caught the Heathrow Express and we spent a day writing in a hotel next to the runway, and it wasn’t our most productive day, was it?,” James added.
“Looking back on it now, it feels like a mistake, but at the time we were so close to making it happen, we were like, let’s just try to achieve it.
“We often try to write between six and ten pages a day when we write and that day, I think we wrote a page and a half.”
Chris asked if they used ‘post-it notes’ to draft scripts and Ruth promptly joked: ‘We do have post-its, but they are not very detailed.
“I come across them every now and then and there are literally two words on them. We’re not that mature yet in that regard.’
The much-loved TV presenter admitted that the writing rooms at the hotel looked like a ‘disaster’, adding: ‘I often say that if anyone walked past the window and looked at Ruth and me, they would see that there were most likely two people were taking a nap. two open bags of chocolate buttons, randomly placed post-its on the wall and you’d look in and you’d never think, ‘oh, they must be writing a successful hit show.’
‘You would think ‘that looks like a disaster.’

It comes shortly after James revealed he plans to work with Ruth on another TV show.
The pair appeared on Heart Radio with Jason King and Emma Bunton to chat about the highly anticipated upcoming episode.
Jason told them, “I hope to see you again soon!” This is the final!’
Emma agreed, “Of course, those two are always busy, aren’t they! Are you going to write something together?’
James confirmed: “We would like that,” as Ruth smiled at the presenters.
Jason asked, “Should we leave it at that?”
Emma angrily: ‘No! I want to know when. When you start writing!’
“It might take a while, it might take a while,” James told them.
