‘I am only aware that what I am trying to do is not the road that has often been traveled.

“Going from being like the National Theatre, writing a TV show on the BBC, Broadway, hosting a late-night talk show, filming stuff in the middle of that, stopping the late-night talk show and then saying, ‘Oh, I’d like to do another work now.”

“It’s just not the path that’s been traveled, to my knowledge, so it comes with a great deal of fear.” It’s terrifying, it’s absolutely terrifying.

Speaking of his upcoming plans, James said: ‘There are a lot of things I’d love to do, but they’re very dependent on people wanting me to do them… I think it’s going to be really important to take a breather and take a minute.’

Speaking of returning to his theater roots, the Gavin & Stacey star confessed: “I couldn’t feel more urgent inside of me to go do that.” [theatre].

James concluded by insisting that he feels he is making the right decision in walking away from the show.

James’ final episode of The Late Late Show is scheduled to air on CBS in the United States on April 27.

Tom Cruise will reportedly join James in a musical performance during The Lion King at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood for the latest installment.
