James Comer blasts MSNBC for not asking President Biden a single Hunter Biden-related question
Top Republican James Comer slams MSNBC for failing to pressure President Biden over his connections to his son Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings or “bribery claims” during a 20-minute interview on Thursday.
Biden was asked by MSNBC anchor Nicole Wallace about Thursday’s Supreme Court decision on affirmative action, the January 6 riots and his main political opponent Donald Trump, but the interview glossed over a $10 million “bribe” he and Hunter allegedly accepted from a Ukrainian energy manager. and did not comment on his son’s other business dealings.
Comer, who chairs the House Oversight Committee that leads the investigation into the Biden family’s business dealings, told DailyMail.com exclusively: “It defies logic and basic journalistic principles that President Biden, during a 20-minute interview with MSNBC, was not asked a single question about Hunter Biden or his involvement in his family’s business dealings.”
The chairman has said the Biden family may have accepted more than “$40 million” from foreigners in exchange for favorable policy decisions.
Biden was asked by MSNBC anchor Nicole Wallace about Thursday’s Supreme Court decision on affirmative action and the lawsuit, the January 6 riots and his main political opponent Donald Trump, but the interview glossed over allegations of bribery against his son Hunter.
The Kentucky congressman accused the mainstream media of going “watchdog in lapdog.”
The Kentucky congressman told DailyMail.com that the mainstream media “turned from watchdog to lapdog” during the Biden administration.
He also promised that Republicans will continue to ask “tough questions to which the American people deserve answers.”
Comer recently brought to light the existence of an internal FBI form FD-1023 that allegedly stated that Joe and Hunter Biden each received $5 million in “bribes” from a Ukrainian foreign national in exchange for policy decisions. The National, a director of Burisma, also reportedly has phone recordings of Joe and Hunter that he kept as an “insurance policy.”
Earlier this week, the Oversight Committee stepped up pressure on the Treasury Department to turn over Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) related to Burisma Holdings and the alleged $10 million total payment to Joe and Hunter.
Also, according to new Hunter Biden WhatsApp messages published by Comer’s committee, the president’s son is shown demanding $10 million from the Chinese energy company and boasting that his family is “the best” at appeasing the now-missing billionaire- chairman of the company.
In August 2017 posts, the first son pushed for $10 million to be invested annually in the joint venture with CEFC China Energy, calling a $5 million proposal “new to me” and “obviously not acceptable.”
The House Oversight Committee’s Twitter account said Hunter sent a message to Gongwen Dong, a CEFC China Energy employee who went by the nickname “Kevin.”
“I’m tired of Kevin,” Hunter said. “I can make five million dollars at any law firm in America. If you think it’s about money, it’s not. The Biden’s (sic) are the best at doing exactly what the chairman of this partnership wants. Please don’t squabble over peanuts.’
The next day, one of Hunter’s shell companies, OWASCO PC, received a $10,000 payment from CEFC, the House Oversight Republicans said, sharing a receipt.
In addition, two IRS whistleblowers reported to the House Ways and Means Committee late last week alleging that top Justice Department officials, including Attorney General Merrick Garland, were interfering in the criminal investigation of Hunter Biden.
Last week, Hunter Biden agreed to a plea deal with the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, pleading guilty to two felony tax charges and entering probation on a gun charge.
IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley, a 14-year veteran of the agency who helped oversee the investigation into the president’s son, alleges Hunter Biden has received preferential treatment from investigators investigating his tax affairs and lying about filing for an gun permit.
Shapley pointed to a WhatsApp message sent by Hunter to Chinese Communist Party official Henry Zhao on July 30, 2017, threatening him to follow his “orders” and saying his father was with him. Shapley claims he raised concerns about the WhatsApp message to DOJ prosecutors, who dismissed his concerns.
During an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Shapley also described an October 7, 2022 meeting with top IRS and FBI officials regarding the investigation of President Joe Biden’s son.
“I was there and I personally witnessed it,” Shapley said, noting that Weiss began by saying “he’s not the person who decides whether or not to press charges.”
Shapley claimed the final decision was made by officials in Washington, DC. He noted that in March 2022, Weiss met with Matthew Graves, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia who was appointed by President Joe Biden.
“After that happened, he was no longer looking to attack,” Shapley said.
“So that’s earth-shattering news,” said Fox News’ Bret Baier. “It’s a Biden-appointed DCUS attorney, Matthew Graves, who wouldn’t allow him to sue in his precinct?”
“I didn’t learn that fact until October 7, 2022, so looking back to March 2022. And then David Weiss said on October 7, 2022 that the DCUS law firm will not allow us there,” Shapley responded.
In a series of tweets Tuesday, Republicans on the House Oversight Committee released new WhatsApp messages between Hunter Biden and a Chinese business partner as they began an energy deal in August 2017.
Biden was not asked about his family’s business dealings during a 20-minute interview on MSNBC Thursday
Comer is leading the charge in the House to investigate the acceptance of millions of dollars of foreign nationals by at least nine members of the Biden family
The House Ways and Means Committee last week released testimony from two IRS whistleblowers who alleged that Justice Department, FBI and IRS officials interfered in Weiss’ investigation. Shapley was one of those two whistleblowers.
In response to the release of that information, Garland denied interfering with the Hunter Biden investigation.
“I don’t know how it would be possible for anyone to stop him from prosecuting,” Garland said of Weiss last week.
Asked for guidance not to press charges against Hunter in 2022, Garland replied last week, “As I said at the outset, Mr. Weiss was appointed by President Trump as the U.S. attorney in Delaware and assigned this case during the previous government.’
Garland said Weiss would be allowed to continue his investigation and make a decision to prosecute any way he wants and in any district he wants. Mr Weiss has since sent a letter to the House Judiciary confirming that he had that authority.
“I don’t know how it would be possible for someone to dissuade him from prosecuting, given that he has this authority,” he said.
