An Islamic ‘brothers only’ day out at a popular water park is under investigation. It is alleged that female staff have been subjected to vile insults and harassment.
Sunni Muslim group the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jam’ah Association of Australia (ASWJ) booked the Jamberoo Action Park on the NSW south coast on Monday for an estimated 800 boys and men.
Organizers of the ‘strictly for brothers only’ event had reportedly requested that there be no female staff on shifts.
Although management denied this request, it is claimed that both male and female employees were told to wear long-sleeved shirts and “long tights” to be “inclusive” to their guests.
But some female staff were reportedly told they ‘were not allowed to be here’ and were called ‘b*****s’ and ‘sl**s’ by members of the group, the group reports. Illawarra Mercury.
Park bosses are investigating at least one report of ‘derogatory and degrading treatment’, while ASWJ leaders have launched their own investigation into the day out.

A source told the Mercury it was not just one isolated incident.
“I don’t know if any complaints were filed, but several girls were affected that day,” the source said.
“Young guys were also affected because they stood up for the girls.”
A spokesperson for Jamberoo Action Park told Daily Mail Australia it is “an inclusive operation and does its best to accommodate all guests.”
The spokesperson said the park is normally closed to the public between Monday and Thursday at this time of year, but is occasionally taking bookings which “may have their own operational requirements, from ticketing to certain types of catering”.
“For this Monday’s private booking, all ride and attraction operators confirmed for selection were required to wear sun-resistant clothing regardless of gender, as has been the case with previous bookings,” the spokesperson added.

The park blamed a “few bad apples” for the alleged behavior
The spokesperson said the park has “successfully housed this group for four years.”
“On this occasion they were generally well behaved and it was a small group of boys who were disrespectful,” they said.
‘This can happen in other groups where we experience respectful behavior from most of the group and a few bad apples behave inappropriately.’
ASWJ is also reportedly investigating the incident.
“We are currently investigating complaints made against our Jamberoo Recreation Park customers,” a spokesperson told the Illawarra Mercury.
‘Over the past four years we have worked successfully with the park management to ensure a positive experience for all visitors.
“While incidents involving a small minority may occur during large gatherings, we want to assure you that we have strict agreements in place with park officials to promptly address misconduct and enforce park rules.”
Daily Mail Australia has made several attempts to contact the organization.
The Australian ASWJ movement was led by Mohammed Omran, also known as Sheikh Abu Ayman, as a non-profit organization serving the Muslim community. There are several centers in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
