Jamal Murray bursts for 40 points as Nuggets win Game 2, 120-113, as Denver now looks to close series in Minnesota

Jamal Murray, who tore his ACL two years ago after bursting onto the biggest basketball stage in the 2020 NBA Bubble, burst for 40 points as the Nuggets took a big step to close out their first round game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 26-year-old, from Canada, put in a stellar performance, scoring 40 points on 13-21 shooting (61 percent overall field goal percentage) in Denver’s 120-113 home win.

However, he was not the game’s most prolific player, as that title belonged to Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, who put up 41 points and hit 14 of his 23 shots.

Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic nearly got a triple-double to finish with 27 points, nine assists and nine rebounds. He made 10 of 19 of his shots, although he only managed to make 1 of his 3 three-point attempts.

Denver opened Wednesday night’s game with 31 points in the first quarter, compared to Minnesota’s 22 points.
