Jamaica’s Under 20 sprinter Deandre Daley shows ridiculous speed to overtake Bahamas rival in 4x100m

Jamaica’s Under 20 sprinter Deandre Daley shows ridiculous speed to overtake Bahamas rival in the final leg of the 4x100m relay…and even has time to rub it in his face!

The Jamaica Under 20 4x100m relay team overcame a deficit in the final stage thanks to anchor Deandre Daley – and he even had time to watch his Bahamian rival before crossing the finish line on Sunday.

Daley got the baton from Demario Prince and fell behind, but stormed home to win by 0.10 seconds.

Jamaica’s winning team crossed the line in 39.68 seconds ahead of the Bahamas (39.78) and Trinidad and Tobago (40.83).

Daley remained relaxed as he took home gold for Jamaica, turning his head towards the Bahamas anchor who had sacrificed his form in a desperate bid to regain the lead.

The Jamaican sprinter made sure to get ahead of his rival before looking back and having the last laugh.

Deandre Daley trailed as both Jamaica and Barbados hit the final straight of the 4×100

There was seemingly no animosity between the anchors or teams as the race concluded at Thomas A Robinson Stadium in the Bahamas.

It hosts the 50th CARIFTA Games – an annual athletic competition for U17 and U20, founded by the Caribbean Free Trade Association.

Behind the top three were Barbados, Cayman Islands, Guadelupe, British Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands.

However, the race will be redone on Tuesday after a successful protest from Barbados.

According to the Jamaican ObserverBarbados officially argued that the race was recalled deep into the first leg.

As a result of not hearing the starting gun, the Bahamas were also left behind in the starting block after what they thought was an ‘unstable start’.

Jamaica has said it will not participate in the re-run of the race.

However, Daley had the last laugh and turned to the Bahamas anchor before crossing the finish line
