A Jamaican man has been charged with the murder of his British brother while he was visiting the island for his mother’s funeral.
Michael Brown, from Waterford in Hertfordshire, was shot dead in Mike Town earlier this month.
Mirror reports that his brother Lemone Brown, a carpenter from Manchester parish in Jamaica, has been arrested and charged with his brother’s murder and is due to appear in court.

Superintendent Shane McCalla, Manchester Police Commander, said the dispute had been ongoing since 2015 and community authorities had tried to help resolve the issues.
He said: ‘It’s really sad what happened, and what’s even sadder is that people, including the deceased, would have been at the Mandeville police station where members of the security and protection arm of the community and justice restorative would have tried to get the parties to reach some kind of agreement in their disputes over the properties.’
According to police reports, Brown, who called himself “Jimmy,” was killed at approximately 12:20 a.m. last Thursday in an unfinished home he was building in the community just four days after burying his 74-year-old mother. .
The 48-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was rushed to Mandeville Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A police report said Brown was attacked by gunmen who opened fire on him as he entered the house he was building on the Caribbean island.
Citing ‘community sources’, Jamaican radio station Nationwide 90FM said Brown had been involved in a ‘bitter’ family dispute over various properties left to him in her will by his recently deceased mother on the island.
The 48-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body following the shooting last Thursday and was rushed to Mandeville Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The station reported that the dispute escalated Wednesday between Brown and his relatives, and a heated argument ensued.
Police immediately opened an investigation into the shooting and continue to collect statements.
A local resident said that there are many land and property disputes in Jamaica that sometimes end tragically.
She said: ‘This young man came from England to bury his mother and look after the house she was building and he himself will be buried. That is so horrible and sad.
