Jalen Hurts thanks God, the Eagles and his family during emotional first press conference since signing the biggest deal in NFL history… as Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie calls it a ‘special moment’ for the NFC champions

Jalen Hurts expressed his gratitude to God and the Philadelphia Eagles organization at his first press conference since signing the biggest contract in NFL history.

Three years since the Eagles drafted Hurts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Hurts appeared on the podium Monday morning.

As always, Hurts was filled with gratitude and spent the first few minutes of his conference thanking everyone from his Lord and Redeemer to the Eagles’ staff and players along with his family, naming and thanking him individually.

“It’s not a moment when I can think because the journey isn’t over yet,” Hurts said. “I’ve been constantly striving to be the best player I can be – with no boundaries, just trying to be the best version of myself.”

Despite the temptation of comfort of securing generational wealth that befell many before him, Hurts made it abundantly clear that he is still on a mission to achieve, both individually and collectively.

‘That will never change. The hard work continues and the fire continues to burn.’

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie described the contract as a “special moment” for the franchise.

“This is the beginning,” Lurie said. ‘This is not near the end. This is the start of a career for a remarkable person and a remarkable player.

‘We don’t even know the future. The ceiling? There is no ceiling. It’s all there.

“Today is an incredibly exciting day for the Philadelphia Eagles… it’s remarkable that someone could combine Jalen’s talent, personality and ability as a culture setter at such a young age.”
