Jalen Brunson has sensationally claimed that his father, a Knicks assistant coach, called him a “damn bum” during the NBA All-Star’s three-point shooting contest.

The 27-year-old point guard faced sharpshooters Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young in this year’s three-point challenge, but was eliminated in the first round with a score of 24 points. He needed 26 to avoid early elimination.

And as he threw up shots, Brunson told Josh Hart and Matt Hillman on the Roommates Show podcast that he heard someone talking not far from the court.

“A bald man behind the couch… I heard ‘ayo you f’n bum!'” Brunson said. “I said, ‘Who the hell said that?’ My father.”’

Brunson’s father, Rick, who was hired as a Knicks assistant in 2022, didn’t stop the trash talk there as he also blasted his son for shooting rocks.

“He said, ‘Yes, with that bonus we could have finished my basement,’” Brunson said.

Hart — a 2016 NCAA champion with Brunson at Villanova and now teammates with the one-time All-Star on the Knicks — couldn’t help but laugh, as he agreed with his assistant coach.

“Good point,” Hart joked. “That’s a very valid point.”

Brunson’s father, a former NBA point guard, didn’t exactly taunt, but instead showed off his pride in his son making his first-ever All-Star game.

‘There was a time when you wanted to be just like me. And now I wish I was just like you when I was your age,” Rick said this weekend.

‘I love you! Congratulations on making your first All-Star game.”

In his first game since the All-Star break, Brunson had 21 points and 12 assists in a 110-96 win against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.
