Jake Paul’s private jet was struck by lightning as he flew home from his press conference in New York ahead of the Mike Tyson fight in July.

The YouTuber turned boxer shared a video of his plane, said to be worth around £30million, shaking violently as an electrical discharge crackled outside.

Paul and Tyson will meet on July 20 at the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in an exhibition fight streamed live on Netflix.

Surrounded by his friends and with his golden retriever Thor in his arms, he chose not to speak to God, but made supplication to an ancient Greek idol.

“We woke up the gods of war and (there’s) lightning on the plane, brother,” he began in an Instagram video before a violent crackling rocked the plane.

‘Oh s***! Zeus, I love you brother,” he said, clasping his hands in a prayer sign.

Luckily, Paul made it safely back to solid ground as he later shared the video, writing, “The press’s road home was interesting.” A smiling face emoji confirmed his carefree spirit.

One fan joked in the comments that Paul was trying to escape the fight against Tyson. “My husband is trying to fake his death so he doesn’t have to fight,” they wrote.

Another compared the lightning to the former unified heavyweight champion himself, saying: “First hit from Mike Tyson.”

The fight between Tyson, 57, and Paul has generated a lot of controversy and opinions.

Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr, who fought Iron Mike in the £63 million fight billed as the ‘Lockdown Knockdown’ in 2020, warned of Tyson’s raw power.

“Mike Tyson is still the strongest puncher I’ve ever been in the ring with,” he told Shane Mosley.

“The first time he hit me in the chest, it felt like a mule had kicked me in the chest.

Their recent press conference in the Big Apple attracted a lot of attention and provided nothing short of intriguing moments.

Tyson bizarrely claimed that he once got an erection when he saw a 16-year-old Paul dancing.

He also insulted the 27-year-old. ‘I don’t know if he’s in his prime. He’s fat,” Tyson said as a raucous crowd cheered him on. ‘He must be thin and mean. It’s fat and funky. I saw him the other day with his shirt off, he’s fat. Have you started training yet?’

Paul hit back, “I love you, I love you like a father loves his son, but I have to discipline you. You’re going down, old man.’
