Jake Paul reveals ‘there’s a mutual RESPECT’ between him and Tommy Fury as he takes the time to praise the ‘overnight superstar’ after they ‘talked a ton of shit’ and brother Logan pointed out that the rival was going through ‘adversity’
YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul has taken time to praise ‘overnight superstar’ and ‘good guy’ Tommy Fury after their grudge in Saudi Arabia.
Fury emerged victorious via split decision, winning on two of the judges’ scorecards despite being turned on his back in round eight.
The Love Island star had two judges score the fight 76-73 in his favor, while the other gave Paul the advantage by a score of 75-74.
In an interview with his brother Logan Paul on the ‘BS with Jake Paul’ PodcastJake said that he respected Fury despite the war of words they shared in the long lead up to fight night.
“It’s definitely blossomed,” Paul said. “She is an overnight superstar and she is great for him.
Jake Paul spoke highly of Tommy Fury on his podcast after his loss
Paul said that the two respected each other and that the event made Fury an “overnight superstar”.
‘He’s a good boy and we had a lot of respect for each other; We talked in the locker room and he said let’s do a rematch.
‘He seems very down to earth and down to earth. We talked a lot of shit and did a great job promoting it, but there was mutual respect and we hugged each other.
‘I have respect for the boy, that is the most beautiful thing about this sport. They can be arch enemies and then find respect for each other after beating each other up and going to war.
Earlier on the show, Paul said that Fury was not the best fighter he had come across, giving that title to former UFC star Anderson Silva.
“He wasn’t that good at all, I think Anderson was tougher than him and I figured out that puzzle.” He threw a lot of punches, that was the most important thing,” Paul said.
Earlier that day, Paul had tweeted his thoughts on the fight and the impact it had on him, admitting he was “emotionally hurt” by the loss, despite bragging about the $30 million he had won.
“The event business was a great success,” he wrote.
‘It doesn’t mean I’m not emotionally hurt by the loss. But I’m not going to sit here and sulk. I am going to use that pain to propel my way forward to never feel like this again,” he added.
Paul added that former MMA fighter Anderson Silva, who he beat before Fury, was ‘tougher’
