Jake Paul reveals why Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is his inspiration ahead of Mike Tyson fight
Before Jake Paul steps between the ropes to fight boxing legend Mike Tyson on Friday night, the social media star has revealed how Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has inspired him.
27-year-old Paul’s fight against Tyson has cornered a unique audience in the sporting world, which will be broadcast live on Netflix tonight, because of their difference in age and experience in combat sports.
Mahomes is considered the most successful active NFL quarterback with three Super Bowls at the age of 29. He is already considered one of the best in football history to hold the position, with around half of his career remaining.
“It’s cliché, but there’s a reason why he’s the best,” Paul said PEOPLE. “He keeps winning and keeps showing up and being a leader.”
‘He never really has days off and I admire his focus.’
Tyson, 58, hasn’t had a non-exhibition match since 2005 and drew with Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. in a fight that was scored by the WBC.

Mahomes is a three-time Super Bowl champion at age 29 and appears to have more in his future
Still, “Iron Mike’s” latest legacy leans heavily on the nostalgia of his dominant run in the 1980s and 1990s.
Paul’s rise as a boxer has come with an asterisk, with limited fights against people trained primarily in the sport. Of his eleven professional fights, only three have come against real boxers.
Tyson would be fourth, with Tommy Fury being Paul’s only opponent of similar age and experience. That coincides with the only loss for ‘The Problem Child’.
Mahomes has had contact with Logan Paul, Jake’s older brother, a few times in the past.
The Kansas City quarterback has entered into a partnership agreement with Logan’s energy drink Prime.
In April, Mahomes appeared on WWE’s ‘Monday Night Raw’ as an ally to Logan.
Mahomes is unlikely to be at AT&T Stadium for the fight as the Chiefs play the Bills on the road on Sunday. However, that didn’t stop Jake Paul from showering his love on the three-time Super Bowl MVP.
