Jake Gyllenhaal trained for 90 minutes EVERY DAY before shooting to attain his chiseled body in Road House remake

Jake Gyllenhaal’s remake of the late Patrick Swayze’s Road House premiered on the first night of the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.

He transformed himself into Elwood Dalton for his role in the remake of the 1989 film ‘Took a Village’.

“I’ll tell you, where I am now, 10 years ago I made Southpaw, another fighting movie, and I was in a different place,” he shared People at the film’s premiere.

“My body was, I knew I needed help with nutrition and I knew I had to protect myself from injury and also be able to have the aesthetics of the whole role,” Gyllenhaal said.

“To balance all that, it took a group of people to help me all the time,” he explained.

In the film, Donnie Darko star plays a former UFC fighter who retires from his career and becomes a bouncer at a bar in the Florida Keys.

The film stars Post Malone, Jessica Williams and Daniela Melchior.

“We trained every day for about an hour, an hour and a half before work,” the Brokeback Mountain star said.

“And then we always had to taper off a little bit, depending on what the schedule required.

“So if the schedule required more fighting and action where I needed more energy, we would do less. And then it bothers you all day long. So yeah, it was a village and I listened to what they said and this is the result.”

He gave high praise to his trainer Jason Walsh, chef Paulette Teda and his nutritionist.

Walsh previously told DailyMail.com what it took to get Jake into the mold of a UFC fighter for the film.

He’s been training the Spider Man: Far From Home actor for eight years, but to get him in shape for Road House the pair worked at Walsh’s New York studio, Rise Nation.

The actor did intense 30-minute VersaClimber workouts and lifted weights.

Jason praised Jake’s commitment and dedicated approach to his training.

He added: ‘When he’s not in the gym doing strength and conditioning, he’s swimming, playing paddle tennis outside and cycling like crazy.
