Jake Gyllenhaal reveals UFC fighter Conor McGregor accidentally punched him in the face during Road House fight scene: ‘Quite a shock’

Jake Gyllenhaal has opened up about how the fight scenes in his new action film Road House didn’t all go to plan.

His stunts included fights with professional boxer Conor McGregor, and not every punch was fake.

“People often want to know if he hit me, and he did that accidentally a few times,” says the American actor. Daily telegram.

‘But I did that with him too. I mean, it really had no effect on him,” he added.

Jake went on to explain that getting punched in the face by a professional fighter was very memorable.

The actor, 43, plays Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter who becomes a bouncer for a dingy bar in the Florida Keys, starring alongside UFC fighter McGregor, 35.

Speaking to a giddy Sian Welby, Jake gave an insight into how he prepared and maintained his ripped physique while filming the Prime Video action movie.

The American star explained that he would not allow himself to have ‘one chip’ as it would undo the hard work he had put in.

He said, ‘If you really look. I don’t eat the tacos. You see me take the plate and I say thank you and then the scene stops, you never actually see me take a bite.

‘I followed a strict regime, one chip would have done everything.’

Jake also admitted he was ‘totally terrified’ while filming fight scenes with Conor because ‘he could really punch me**’.

Conor, who takes on his first-ever film role as Knox, is seen in one clip forcefully headbutting Jake’s character Elwood Dalton.

Jake explained how he had to “teach professional fighters” how to fight so it was believable for viewers.

He continued, β€œI thought this was really cool, but I was also just terrified. I taught professional fighters, who could really punch me, how to punch me so people would actually buy it.

“Their ability to judge distance is different than anyone else’s. To work with someone who can do that, there’s a safety to that as well.”

The reboot of the 1989 cult classic, which originally starred Patrick Swayze, was released on Amazon Prime on March 21.
