Jaime King’s estranged husband Kyle Newman says he fears she will ‘kidnap’ their two young sons

Jaime King’s divorce has taken a new turn after her estranged husband Kyle Newman expressed concern that she might try to “kidnap” their two children.

Legal documents obtained by The blast state that 47-year-old Newman is trying to stop Jaime, 44, from taking their sons James, 9, and Leo, 7, to Vietnam for vacation.

The filmmaker said in a court case, “I can’t agree with Jaime taking our kids to Vietnam on vacation after school starts – Vietnam is a non-Hague child abduction treaty.”

The convention exists “to protect children from the harmful effects of international parental abduction by encouraging the prompt return of abducted children to their country of habitual residence and to organize or secure effective access rights for a child,” said the outlet. .

In layman’s terms, the treaty explains that if one parent takes the children to another country, the government of that country will assist in their return.

Jaime wants to take the boys on a trip as soon as possible in the coming days.

“I’m afraid Jaime will stay there. There is a court order, which we have negotiated heavily, that does not allow either of us to take the children to a country that is not covered by the Hague Convention,” Newman said in the filing.

He added: “Jaime has already tried to intercept our children’s passports without my knowledge or consent, which worries me that Jaime is planning to kidnap our minor children.”

The paperwork further noted, “Vietnam is not a signatory to the Hague Convention. Based on Jaime’s historical behavior and over the past 6 months, I have a reasonable fear that she will refuse to return the children to me after their trip.

“Jaime was dishonest with me from the start about her intentions to travel to Vietnam with our kids, and I don’t agree.”

Another shocking allegation listed in the new lawsuit alleges that King defied the current custody order because she has been “intoxicated” around James and Leo.

According to Newman, “Jaime has repeatedly and blatantly violated multiple court orders, including child custody orders (which resulted in her being repeatedly tested as drunk with SoberLink, while having custody of the children).”

SoberLink is an alcohol control system that combines a breathalyzer with wireless connectivity and technology such as facial recognition.

As for Jaime’s side, she previously claimed to have “suffered years of physical, emotional, verbal and fiscal abuse,” which led her to end the marriage.

“In the end, I decided to stand up for myself and made the decision to end our marriage,” she said.

The Blast reported that the judge in the pending divorce case is siding with Newman and denying King’s request for the trip to Vietnam.

Last fall, Newman claimed he couldn’t afford to live because the actress didn’t pay him a court order.

The Hart Of Dixie actress was ordered by a court in April to pay her ex $1,000 a month in spousal support and $429 a month in child support, but the director of Barely Lethal filed legal documents claiming she had not transferred anything .

The case has been pending for over three years and an upcoming trial is scheduled for September 19, 2023.
