Borussia Dortmund are reportedly closing in on the loan signings of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United and Ian Maatsen from Chelsea, with the pair aiming for much-needed game time.

The Bundesliga side are hopeful that Sancho can join the team at their training camp in Marbella next week as talks over a six-month loan continue.

Dortmund have offered around £3m to bring Sancho back to the club, where he was a fan favorite between 2017 and 2021 before his £73m move to Old Trafford.

Sancho has been training on his own for four months after falling out with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, leading to the Red Devils trying to offload the winger.

Should Sancho's return be confirmed, he would likely return to Dortmund's right wing position, where he previously played the majority of his 137 games for the club.

Sancho, who scored fifty goals and won the German Cup and the Super Cup with the club, would probably push Donyell Malen out of the starting eleven.

Malen has made 23 appearances for Dortmund this season, but the Dutchman has been strongly linked with a move away from the club in January.

The addition of Sancho could create a dynamic trio behind striker Niclas Fullkrug, with the England international joining Julian Brandt and winger Karim Adeyemi.

Sancho could also operate from the left flank, ahead of another potential newcomer in Maatsen.

Maatsen has played in a variety of positions during his 15 appearances for Chelsea this season, but the Dutchman would likely take on the left-back role he played in for Burnley in the Championship last season.

The 21-year-old would compete for a starting role with Ramy Bensebaini, who has made 21 appearances for Dortmund so far this season.

Maatsen could fit into a defense with Nico Schlotterbeck, Mats Hummels and Thomas Meunier ahead of goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
