Jadon Sancho is loaned out to Borussia Dortmund by Manchester United until the end of the season.

United will receive a loan fee of £3 million plus up to £3.4 million in bonuses, based on Sancho’s number of appearances and Dortmund’s qualification for the Champions League.

Dortmund will pay the majority of Sancho’s £290,000 weekly wages, although United have agreed to contribute £100,000 to take the winger off the books.

There is no option for the Bundesliga club to re-sign Sancho permanently this summer after the 23-year-old top United sold for £73m in 2021.

The move ends four and a half months of misery for Sancho, who made the last of his three appearances this season at the end of August after a public row with manager Erik ten Hag.

The winger’s refusal to apologize has led to him training and eating alone at Carrington, separated from the rest of the first-team group.

The player, who has taken to social media again by posting a photo of himself in Dortmund kit, is delighted to be back at the club.

Sancho said: “When I entered the dressing room today it felt like coming home. I know the club inside and out, I have always had a close relationship with the fans here and I have never lost touch with those in charge.

‘I can’t wait to see my teammates again, get on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, prepare goals, score goals and help qualify for the Champions League.’

The England forward will wear the number 10 shirt when he plays in the Bundesliga, where he hopes to put himself back into Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of next summer’s European Championships in Germany.

Dortmund announced the news themselves via social media, posting a fake fax message with the words “I’m back” in tribute to Michael Jordan’s confirmation of his return to the Chicago Bulls in 1995.

United also posted news on the club website confirming the England international’s departure.
