Jadon Sancho’s return to Borussia Dortmund ended on Saturday when the on-loan Manchester United striker registered an assist in his temporary side’s victory over Darmstadt.
It was not known whether Sancho would be fit enough to play for Dortmund this weekend after being ruled out of first-team training at United in recent months.
However, the out-of-favour Englishman quickly blew away the cobwebs as he made an impact from the bench for Marco Rose’s side.
Sancho replaced Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in the 55th minute and quickly slotted back into his former team and started creating chances for his teammates.
During his eventful three-year career since moving to Manchester United in a £73 million contract from Dortmund, Sancho has scored just six goals and netted just 12 goals in that time.

His previous performances at Dortmund have been more impressive and early signs suggest he could already be on his way to his previous stunning form that earned him his move to Manchester.
Viral footage shared after Sancho’s loan deal was confirmed by his arrival in Germany shows him embracing Dortmund captain Marco Reus after the pair previously had a good relationship during the England international’s formative years at the club.
They shared another embrace as Sancho assisted the 34-year-old’s fourth Bundesliga goal of the season during Saturday’s meeting at Signal Iduna Park.

He found space behind Darmstadt’s defense and made no mistake with his cutback: Reus tapped into an almost open net to double the hosts’ lead.
Gary Neville was one of the first to comment on the goal as he responded with laughing emojis to X.
Sancho previously played for Dortmund with 50 goals and 63 assists in 136 appearances, emerging as one of Europe’s biggest emerging talents.
His future at Old Trafford will be decided at the end of the season when the loan deal, which does not include an option to buy, expires.
