Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has admitted the squad ‘needs more time’ to be successful as he referenced new signings and a new playing system ahead of the club’s trip to face Brentford on Saturday.

United limped to a disappointing loss on the opening Premier League weekend, losing 2-1 to Graham Potters impressive Brighton side at Old Trafford as the era of Erik ten Hag got underway.

The new Man United boss has called for more reinforcements to be added to his stuttering squad of superstars as the Dutchman attempts to guide the club back to brighter days.

Sancho was signed by ex-boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær in a move worth £73million, but struggled for form during his first year while the team imploded and the winger finished the season having played under three different managers.

The 22-year-old said losing to Brighton had ‘upset’ the players, but cut a relaxed attitude as he insisted that it ‘takes time’ for players to mold to the new system Ten Hag wants to play.

‘It takes time to mold in the system. We have new players and they have to get used to how we play,’ said Sancho.

‘It will come good for sure, I have belief in the manager, the system and the players we have.

‘We just have to stay positive. I don’t think it will take that much time.’

He additionally admitted that new players need time to settle, but believes the team will come good this season as he spoke with NBC Sports.

‘It’s Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world.

‘When we lose to Brighton of course people are going to be upset, as players we are upset.

‘Once we start winning I think we will be good.’ 

The skilful winger went on to add that Manchester United’s status as one of the biggest club’s in the world meant that every result would be scrutinised. 

Sancho scored just three Premier League goals and registered the same amount of assists during his first season at the club after joining from Borussia Dortmund. 

The former Manchester City academy graduate came with a high level of expectation as United fans marvelled at a front three of Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Sancho.

Manchester United travel to face Brentford on Saturday evening as Ten Hag’s squad hit the reset button in their search for a first win of the season.
