Jacqui Lambie has announced that she is supporting Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States.
Vice President Harris, 59, became the Democratic nominee earlier this week after taking over the candidacy of 81-year-old President Joe Biden, who lost his party’s support after a series of gaffes.
She will now face former President Donald Trump in the November election.
Senator Lambie was clear about who she would support on Election Day if she were allowed to cast her vote.
I would definitely vote for her [Harris]“That’s for sure,” she said on The Project on Friday.
“But I wish her the best, and it would be great — I think it would be great for America to have not just a woman, but a black woman. I think that would be great.
“We had Obama there, and I think it would be really good for America. Let her go! Get some women power out there, girlfriend!”
Ms Lambie added that Democrats were right to nominate the vice president as Biden’s successor as the party’s nominee.

Donald Trump and Vice President Harris will compete for the presidency
“I don’t know what other choice you have,” she said. “You have to get your deputy.”
“She’s definitely, uh – how can I put this politely? She’s got her wits about her. And she can say multiple sentences at once. So that’s got to be a bonus.”
Vice President Harris and Trump will face off in a televised debate on September 10.
