Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey could miss a month of Aston Villa’s Premier League campaign as he recovers from a broken metatarsal bone.
The grim news comes in the wake of the striker’s tournament-ending injury, which Ramsey sustained during England’s 1-0 win over Portugal in the quarter-finals of the European Under-21 Championship.
After beating Israel 3-0 in their semi-final, England will play Spain in the final on Saturday afternoon – in a tie that will be shown on Channel 4 after the broadcaster struck a late deal with UEFA – in a bid to take home their first European trophy since 1984.
Ramsey has been a standout for Lee Carsley’s side, and his increasing influence under Unai Emery at Villa means news of his protracted recovery time will come as a blow to the Midlands club.

Of the six goals and a further six assists Ramsey made in his 35 appearances for Villa last season, 11 of those have come from the Spanish manager.
Villa are looking to build on a strong finish to last season, which saw the side secure a place in the Europa Conference League after finishing seventh in a competitive Premier League table.
Emery has already brought in Youri Tielemans from relegated Leicester and has signed a deal to bring over Pau Torres from Villarreal.
The club would also follow Tielemans’ teammate Harvey Barnes and Barcelona winger Ferran Torres, who previously played in the league with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
