Jacob Elordi is spotted doing a very Aussie act at a Byron coffee shop… and his overseas fans are baffled

Jacob Elordi was caught getting involved in a very Australian act while visiting a coffee shop near Byron Bay.

The 27-year-old Hollywood star, who hails from Brisbane, was reportedly spotted making a very low-key visit to a local hotspot this week while visiting his native Australia.

TikTok user Blayne Hull took to the platform to make a video which he claimed showed the actor walking out of the coffee shop.

However, one action in the video left fans around the world in shock, although residents of Australia were not surprised to see him get involved in the tradition.

In the clip, the man believed to be Jacob was completely barefoot as he entered the cafe and appeared to have no shoes on him, causing the Americans to panic.

In the comments section, some fans shared their shock when someone wrote: ‘No shoes in Australia still sends me off.’

Another said: ‘barefoot??????’ while a third wrote: ‘He’s not even wearing shoes, you’re fine.’

A fourth commented: ‘Wait, the no-shoes issue was serious?’ and another added: ‘If someone came up to me without shoes, I’m sorry, but I just can’t do that.’

However, the Australians were quick to set the record straight, saying it is a common tradition seen in every coastal town across the country.

One wrote: ‘For the Americans in the comments: we wear shoes in the city, beach/country is a free toe strip.’

“I love the non-Australians who are freaking out about not wearing shoes. seaside resort = shoe-free zone,” another shared.

While a third added: “In Clurb (Australia) we all have Fam (don’t wear shoes).”

Other fans were quick to wonder if the man was really Jacob, as his face was hidden under a gray hoodie and baseball cap during the low-key outing.

However, TikToker Blayne told a doubting fan: “Haahaha, that was my mother’s beautiful life.”

The actor, 27, was reportedly spotted on a very low-key visit to a local hotspot, with TikTok user Blayne Hull sharing a video of him walking barefoot around the cafe in true Australian style.

Blayne also cheekily captioned the video: “I got beat to the prettiest mustachioed Aussie at my local coffee shop this morning.”

It comes after Jacob was recently hit with a backlash after he and Margot Robbie were cast in an adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic Wuthering Heights.

In the upcoming Emerald Fennell release, Jacob will take on the lead role of Heathcliff, while Margot will portray his love interest Catherine Earnshaw.

However, the casting proved to be divisive among fans, as many disagreed with the two actors taking the lead roles.

Fans were surprised by the casting choice, noting that Catherine, who is no older than 19 in the novel, is played by 34-year-old Margot.

Meanwhile, Heathcliff, whose character is about 40 at the end of the story, is played by 27-year-old Jacob.

Some also took to social media to accuse producers of “whitewashing” the leading role of Heathcliff, who is described in the novel as “dark-skinned” and subjected to racist abuse.

Some fans also criticized the decision to use actors they say “belong on Instagram” in a period film set in the 19th century.

Others even wondered whether director Emerald, 38, who also directed Saltburn, has actually read Brontë’s classic novel.
