Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will not be ruled out for the rest of the season after his departure from their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.
The signal caller was left writhing in pain on the lawn after his own teammate, walker Little, appeared to step on him before his own body weight appeared to force his ankle to twist further.
Lawrence left the field, helped by two trainers, and immediately went for X-rays with initial fears that he had at least sprained his ankle.
But after further tests on Tuesday it was revealed he had managed to avoid a season-ending injury NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson confirmed to reporters Tuesday that Lawrence suffered a high ankle sprain.

Lawrence hit the turf in dismay after trying and failing to walk on his injured ankle
Lawrence reportedly refused to use a cart and did his best to walk away after the injury before attempting to stand on the ankle in the locker room and eventually leaving in a walking boot with the help of crutches.
After Lawrence initially went down and twisted his ankle, Bengals player Trey Hendrickson fell on top of him, inadvertently worsening the injury.
Lawrence lay down in pain at first, tried to get up and then fell back to the ground, throwing his helmet on the ground and hitting the turf.
The Jaguars said it was doubtful he would return with about three minutes left, but he did not return. Lawrence was clearly done for the night as he was filmed wincing in pain as he tried to go through the tunnel.
To make matters worse for Lawrence, his team would go on to lose the game 34-31 to the Bengals in overtime.
Lawrence is on his first contract with the Jaguars after being drafted in 2021, and his current four-year deal is worth $37 million.
The Jaguars entered Monday night's game 8-3 for the season with seven wins of their last eight. But if Lawrence is anywhere near as badly injured as he looked, that would be enough to derail their hopes for the rest of the campaign.
It is currently unclear how long Lawrence will be out and whether he will be back for the playoffs or sooner.
Lawrence was just the latest NFL quarterback to fall victim to a significant injury this season after Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow and Kirk Cousins suffered a similar fate.
Burrow is out for the season after undergoing wrist surgery, while Rodgers made four appearances in his New York Jets debut before tearing his Achilles tendon and is still flirting with a return to the field this season.
Cousins also tore his Achilles tendon on October 29, with Rodgers attempting to contact Cousins and give him advice about the injury.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett will be out for the next few weeks with an ankle injury but could return before the end of the season.
In a contract season, New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones tore his ACL, forcing Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito to start in his place.
After a promising start to his rookie season, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson will return in 2024 after shoulder surgery.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson also required season-ending shoulder surgery.
