Jack Higgs, boyfriend of topless vegan activist Tash Peterson, talks of how he copes with her antics

The boyfriend of controversial vegan campaigner Tash Peterson claims her half-naked public protests have only strengthened his relationship with her.

Jack Higgs has been supporting and filming Mrs. Peterson for three years as she makes headlines at protests against the meat industry.

He accompanied her when she faced the Perth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where she was charged with an alleged tirade at an Outback Jacks steakhouse in Perth last June.

Ms Peterson is notorious for her topless and bloody public protests at steakhouses, supermarkets and livestock shows in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

Earlier this month, she lay almost naked in a meat tray in Sydney’s busy Pitt Street Mall, covered in blood and wrapped in plastic like a piece of meat.

Higgs, a health coach who helps his girlfriend paint for protests, said he has no problem with her exposing her body and praised her for her gory stunts.

“I really admire Tash for having the confidence to use her physical freedom to stand up for non-human animals that are enslaved, mistreated and killed in the food, clothing and entertainment industries,” Higgs told me. Daily Mail Australia.

“Tash does a great job of bringing their voice to the public through her creative distortions and demonstrations.

“Tash has the right to express her body however she pleases.”

Mr Higgs, who is also vegan, said their… activism had made them a strong team.

“Especially in light of so many legal challenges and social backlash,” he said.

“We are getting stronger as a couple every day because we realize how important it is to care for and take care of each other so that we can continue to stand up for animals.”

But Mr Higgs admitted that he understands why other men would be concerned about their girlfriends showing their bodies in public.

“If I see Tash half-naked or even completely naked in public with lingerie on, I can imagine it will be difficult for some boyfriends,” he said in June.

“But I found it very strengthening for our relationship.”

“It might have been a little weird at first. We weren’t sure, but we realized there was nothing wrong with it.’

Meanwhile, Mr Higgs said Wednesday’s court hearing on Ms Peterson’s allegations over a June protest went well.

“The magistrate seemed more accepting and open to the strengths that Tash’s lawyer put forward,” he said.

She had to appear in court in June over an incident at Outback Jacks steak restaurant.

WA police claimed she yelled at the restaurant’s customers while letting disturbing sounds of animals in pain come from a loudspeaker.

Ms. Peterson claims the audio came from animal slaughterhouses.

She allegedly wandered around yelling at diners as they ate, “You’ll have blood on your hands if you’re not vegan.”

The activist was slapped with two criminal charges for failing to leave a licensed venue and one count of disorderly conduct in public.

The case was adjourned until next month.

Ms Peterson’s antics have led police and policy makers in WA to describe her as ‘Australia’s worst plague’ and she has faced numerous fines.

Last year, she marched topless through a Louis Vuitton store in Perth while smeared with her own menstrual blood, later being fined $3,500 by a Perth magistrate.

The activist also dressed as a cow and demonstrated in the meat department of supermarkets, invaded the field during an AFLW game and donned a blood-soaked apron while yelling at customers at a KFC and Coles.

She was also on trial for a December 2020 protest at the Boatshed Markets in Cottesloe, where she also appeared shirtless, with her chest painted in a cow pattern, yelling at shoppers that cows were being raped for meat and dairy.
