Jack Grealish will report early for England duty as he fights for his place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the 2024 European Championship.
There are doubts over the Manchester City striker’s place in the final 26-man squad to be named on June 8 after a difficult season for Pep Guardiola, which was affected by injury.
But Grealish plans to cut his holiday short by reporting to England’s current pre-tournament camp in Darlington earlier than necessary – a clear indication of his determination to catch a plane to Germany.
The players of Man City and Manchester United are not allowed to report until early next week after their participation in last Saturday’s FA Cup final.
But it is expected that Grealish and his clubmate John Stones – who was used sparingly towards the end of the season – will report earlier than planned.

Grealish’s experience could work in his favor and his decision to retire early is likely to be well received by Southgate.
Earlier this week we reported that Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Gordon – who were all struggling with injuries – also reported early.
